DataMesh Showcases FactVerse with KDDI Technology at Smart Factory Expo Autumn
DataMesh and KDDI Technology presented FactVerse immersive operational training for manufacturers at the fifth Smart Factory Expo Autumn in Japan.
DataMesh recently joined partner KDDI Technology at the fifth Smart Factory Expo Autumn, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Manufacturers visiting the booth saw how the DataMesh FactVerse industrial digital twin platform can support immersive equipment-operation and maintenance training.
Addressing workforce and skills-transfer challenges
The KDDI Technology booth focused on practical uses of AI and digital technology for workforce shortages, skills transfer, and the standardization of frontline work. DataMesh provided a dedicated demonstration area where factory and warehouse digital twin scenes created in FactVerse were displayed in real time.
Visitors used a head-mounted display to enter a virtual factory environment and experience simulated equipment-operation and maintenance procedures. Training in a digital environment lets teams practise repeatable procedures without occupying a live production line and helps reduce exposure to on-site training risks.
Participants were particularly interested in practising complex work without handling production equipment and in preserving experienced workers' procedures as reusable digital training content. The demonstrations led to active discussions about training design, skills transfer, and the introduction of digital twins in manufacturing.
From digital factory scenes to operational training
FactVerse helps teams create and manage three-dimensional industrial scenes, connect equipment and operational data, and build reusable digital workflows. For training, experienced workers' procedures can be organized into guided content for onboarding, equipment operation, maintenance, and safety practice.
The same digital twin foundation can also support equipment visualization, simulation, operational monitoring, and AI-assisted analysis. Integration with NVIDIA Omniverse extends options for high-quality visualization and physics-based simulation when a project requires them.
DataMesh will continue working with KDDI Technology and other partners in Japan to help manufacturers improve workforce readiness, retain operational knowledge, and introduce digital twins through practical, phased projects.
